England Squad Revealed: Jude and Phil Left Out, Saka Returns

The England manager has opted to stick with the same England squad that triumphed against their previous opponents and delivered an impressive performance in Serbia last month, finding no place for the Real Madrid star and Phil Foden in his group for the upcoming friendly against Wales and the World Cup qualifier in the Baltic nation.

Despite Phil Foden making a strong case for a return to the squad after rediscovering his form at Manchester City, and Jude Bellingham having returned for Real Madrid following a surgical procedure, the head coach has decided against selecting two of the nation's biggest attacking talents. The young midfielder has been in the starting lineup just a single time for his team since his return.

The England boss has made room for the Arsenal winger, who is fully recovered and has been restored in place of his unavailable Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke. The experienced attacker has not received a recall.

Tuchel expressed his admiration for the vibrancy in last month's squad and seems intent on maintaining the vibe. Tino Livramento, who featured at the defensive flank in the convincing victory in Belgrade, has dropped out due to a knock. The manager has opted against selecting a direct replacement for the Newcastle player but has included the Manchester City defender, who had to pull out last month. He has spoken about the centre-back's significance for England and has suggested using him in midfield.

No spot has been found for Adam Wharton, who was called up last month but withdrew due to injury and was replaced by the Milan player.

Tuchel said: “A mere three weeks after the last camp and the last win, the latest display, so the question was why not bring the same group in because they established a benchmark. Now it is about creating habits out of it. We have regrettably a couple of fitness issues at the moment with Livramento and Madueke and we bring of course the Arsenal forward in to take the place of Madueke. The defender was a last-minute addition last time; he will remain with the squad.”
