Democrats State Administration Refusing Government Closure Talks as President Echoes Warning of Layoffs

A senior White House representative has suggested that mass layoffs of government workers could start if the chief executive decides that negotiations to resolve the government shutdown are "totally going nowhere|making no progress|stalled completely}."

The White House economic advisor informed CNN that he still observed a possibility that Democrats would concede, but added that the president was "gearing up to act|take action|intervene" if necessary.

Deadlocked Discussions

No concrete evidence of discussions have appeared between congressional officials since Trump convened with them last week. The stoppage started on the first of October, after upper chamber Democrats voted against a temporary appropriations measure that would continue public offices functioning through to the twenty-first of November.

"They've chosen not to negotiate with us," Senate Democratic leader the Senate minority leader informed CBS, asserting the deadlock could be resolved only by additional discussions between Trump and the principal congressional leaders.

Partisan Accusations

The GOP House speaker accused Democratic lawmakers of being "not serious" in discussions to resolve the federal government shutdown, while the Democratic leader blamed Republicans of causing the shutdown.
