Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.
His defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
